JAMES BARLOW’S ‘THE STEALS OF THE MONTH’ FOR JANUARY 2014

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope you all are enjoying my new website.  I will be hosting a educational class on the wines of Washington and Oregon at Crescent Moon Wine Bar on February 19th from 7-9 PM.  Food will be paired with the wines and the cost is only $50.  Space is limited so please RSVP to 281-364-9463.  Also, I am now available again to host your private wine party!  So, feel free to put me to work at your next dinner party or work event.  The first wine that I am reviewing won the TOP VALUE AWARD at the Houston Uncorked! Wine Competition this year!  I was fortunate enough to sit on this panel and blind taste this very wine and pick it as the best of the bunch!

CROSS SPRINGS ‘CIMARRON’ RED BLEND 2011

LAKE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

CASH PRICE $10.39

Cimarron is a Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet blend that is power-packed full of flavor from the get go.  Ripe dark fruits of black cherry and blackberry lead into smooth, soft tannins.  Notes of vanilla bean and cedar are long and firm on the finish from 14 months of oak aging.

GOURMANDISE GRENACHE 2010

VIN DE PAYS, FRANCE

CASH PRICE $9.49

This wine is smooth, easy and fruit forward.  Gourmandise is not aged in oak, so the deliciously approachable Grenache flavors jump into the palate.  Flavors of ripe bing cherry, raspberry and strawberry bounce delightfully through the mouth feel.  The finish offers soft, creamy notes of vanilla and jam.

DELSOL PICPOUL DE PINET 2011

LANGUEDOC, FRANCE

CASH PRICE $8.49

Picpoul is the best white grape that you’ve never heard of.  Deliciously clean and refreshing on the palate.  Notes of acacia and white blossoms dance around zesty acids and no oak.  Notes of citrus, lemon and melon sing through the mouth feel.  Perfect seafood white!

Thank You,
