James Barlow’s ‘Steals of the Month’ for September 2013

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Life is finally starting to get back to normal for most of us.  The kids are back in school and all of the summer vacations are over.  These wines are an homage to the understanding that funds are tight, but wine must still be at the table.  These picks will help you on your quest to find the best wines for your family during the holidays.  Enjoy!

Morande Chardonnay 2009
Casablanca, Chile
Cash Price 11.99

Morande is considered one of the finest wineries in all of Chile.  Supple flavors of peach, papaya, and melon.  Soft notes of French vanilla and toasted hazelnut sit deliciously on the finish.  Very Tasty!

Domaine Sarcin Red Blend 2010
Cotes Du Rhone, France
Cash Price $9.49

I visited this dynamic winery last year and was amazed at the care taken in the vineyards.  This Grenache/Syrah blend offers lush flavors of dark cherry and blackberry. Finish is full of raspberry and Garrigue.  Sarcin is an absolute steal for the money!

Chateau Vieux Manoir 2009
Bordeaux, France
Cash Price $8.99

This is a great value Bordeaux from a vintage that really shows the beauty of Bordeaux.  This Merlot based wine offers nuances of currant and wild berry.  Ripe and juicy, this wine gives hints of cedar and tobacco on the finish. What a Great Bordeaux!

Thank You,
