‘Steals of the Month’ and Wine Class for March 2014

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have decided to focus on great value Italian wines for this post.  Italy produces some of the best values on the market.  The increasingly warmer weather allows for the usually acidic grapes of Italy to become more voluptuous and fruit forward.

Also, I am teaching a class at Crescent Moon Wine Bar this coming Wednesday (March 19th) from 7-9pm entitled ‘Chameleon Wines from Around the Word’.  I will have guest host Erica Fine showing off a plethora of spectacular wines from the regions of Champagne, Chablis, Valpolicella, Napa Valley, Washington, Rhone Valley, Piedmonte, Carneros, Central and Southern Italy and (my personal favorite), the Loire Valley!  There are several spaces still available.  Believe me, YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS TASTING! RSVP to 281-364-9463. Cost is $50 and the wines will be paired with delicious foods prepared by the chef at Crescent Moon.

Planeta ‘La Segreta’ Bianco 2009

Sicily, Italy

Cash Price $11.69 but only $9.99 with your Spec’s Key for a limited time!

This aromatic white is a blend of Greganico, Chardonnay among others.  Supple and Clean flavors of peach, citrus  and grapefruit dance delightfully on the palate with vibrant acids.

Tiziano Chianti 2011

Tuscany, Italy

Cash Price $9.99

Chianti (Sangiovese) is an excellent daily red with food.  Flavors of fresh red cherries soften into raspberry and cranberry tones with just a smidgeon of sage. Good acidity and No Oak.

Vendi Merlot 2011

Veneto, Italy

Cash Price $8.59

The Veneto produces the lion’s share of Merlot in Italy.  Soft plum sinks into fresh acids with hints of black pepper and currant.  Soft, elegant tannins.  Great Daily Merlot!

Thank You,
