JAMES BARLOW’S ‘THE STEALS OF THE MONTH’ FOR APRIL 2014

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

April is the month where we all begin to realize that summer will be coming soon.  The impending heat gets me searching for inexpensive ‘pool side’ wines.  Southern France is a great area to find daily drinkers, especially white wines.  These wines are built for youthful consumption and easy enjoyment.

Domaine de Pouy White Blend 2013

Cotes de Gascogne, France

Cash Price $8.99

Pouy is a Ugni Blanc/Colombard blend that is reminiscent of a fruity Sauvignon Blanc.  Crisp, zesty acids are surrounded by melon, citrus and stone fruits.  Completely Un-oaked.

Francois Labet Pinot Noir 2011

Ile de Beaute, France

Cash Price $9.99

Labet is a great value Pinot for under $10.  Soft red cherries and raspberry sink into hints of cola.  Good acidity and fresh red fruits.

Hugues Beaulieu Picpoul de Pinet

Coteaux de Languedoc

Cash Price $9.89

Fresh and succulent, this wine offers jolly rancher tropical fruits.  Melon, candied lime, guava and stone fruits play throughout the palate.  The wine is un-oaked and begs for seafood.  I Love Picpoul!

Thank You,

James C. Barlow
