James,
I never told you the idea I have for you and Specs. I’m telling you this would make money.
If I recall there are several of you who are considered the expert buyers for certain parts of the world.
Here’s the idea. When you take your annual (this should be done yearly) trip to visit the winemakers/producers in Napa, Italy, France, Germany, South Africa and so on. Specs can advertises it as a wine vacation. You mr customers, the guests pay a premium to tag along to explore a vineyard or two each day. They do a wine tasting and tour while you do your work. The cost for your trip is paid for by the participants so it is basically free for you. You can secure a central point for the guests to stay (perhaps at one of the more extensive vineyards who run bed and breakfast). A driving service would also be arraigned to drive the guests to the vineyards. Side trips would be on their own.
I would all but guarantee that they would buy wine from the producers plus they will feel secure in knowing the host is well versed in wine so they are good there. Plus future sales of the wine from Specs as they want to relive the trip with themselves, family and friends. The cost would be covered for you and specs.
The logistics would not be that difficult to tell you the truth.
Just a thought.
